Wooo finally, it’s a new week and a couple more days til the end of 2014, but nevertheless, I thought I would share some movies I had a chance to watch this past week.
Open Windows. (IMBD: 5.3).(trevorspicks: 4.5/7) =]
When Nick (Elijah Wood) discovers that he’s won a dinner date with his favorite star Jill Goddard (Sasha Grey), he’s incredibly excited to finally get the chance to meet her. That excitement deflates when Jill refuses to honor the contest and all of Nick’s hopes are dashed. He’s intrigued when Chord (Neil Maskell), a man claiming to be Jill’s campaign manager, offers him something he can’t quite refuse: Chord will give Nick the ability to constantly view Jill via computer. Nick is initially reluctant but Chord persuades him by saying that he should get at least some entertainment out of the actress. However, Nick is unaware that this decision will put himself and Jill at risk. (wiki).
So basically, its got a pornstar and a hobbit… for me it was a great first half of the movie, but unfortunately has a strange ending. I did enjoy the performance and the excitement of the chase scenes… and sasha grey =]
Go watch it, better than I had expected.
Dawn of the planet of the apes. (IMBD: 7.8).(trevorspicks: 6.5/7)
A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species. (Written by Twentieth Century Fox)
This is by far one of the best movies that I have seen this year, considering how good the first one was. Let me remind you, it had draco malfoy and also that guy from the interview lol. Sometimes I think I’m funny, but yes, if you are a fan or at least get a tingle from watching apes talk and fight, then this movie is definitely worth watching. Not too many big time actors but it does enough, and Gary Oldman’s screaming is great!
The Interview. (imbd:7.7) (trevorspicks: 4/7)
In the action-comedy The Interview, Dave Skylark (James Franco) and his producer Aaron Rapoport (Seth Rogen) run the popular celebrity tabloid TV show “Skylark Tonight.” When they discover that North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un is a fan of the show, they land an interview with him in an attempt to legitimize themselves as journalists. As Dave and Aaron prepare to travel to Pyongyang, their plans change when the CIA recruits them, perhaps the two least-qualified men imaginable, to assassinate Kim Jong-un.Written by Sony Pictures Entertainment
I don’t know. Maybe i’m just not into this style of comedy anymore, but regardless the movie does deliver strong performances by all, and strong in terms of just giving the audience an easy laugh and just an easy movie to watch without over thinking. You can basically be a potato and still enjoy it without having too much intellect. I’m just wondering that maybe Sony hacked themselves and needed this whole situation to make the interview worth watching… for example, sony hacked, blame north korea… movie is about north korea… yeh sounds pretty silly, but worth watching if you wanna get through all the hype.
There’s a few more I watched, but were good and not so good. =]
here they are.
STREETFIGHTER THE MOVIE (yes the one with Van Damme)
